Gimme Some Ear Candy

At first, I had a real hard time shelling out $9.99 for for 15 minutes worth of content — but now that I’ve done so, I’m really glad I picked up Ze Frank’s The Songs from iTunes. It’s a collection of 21 Ze classics such as Where The Fuck Do Ideas Come From? and Anti-intellectualism in much better quality than the versions I ripped for myself from the original videos.

So if you’re a fan, get to buying this. If you aren’t, don’t. And if you don’t know what I’m going on about, go watch The Show. Seriously, you’ll thank me later.

Apple And EMI Drop DRM

The best part (to me at least) about Apple and EMI’s DRM free deal is the news that full album prices are still going to stay the same. That is to say that the price will remain around the $9.99 mark — but your purchase will apparently net you the DRM free 256 kbps AAC versions of the tracks.

Now I don’t know about you, but that gives me loads more incentive to start buying full albums thru iTunes. Well, you know, so long as I like most of the tracks on an album. That’s still going to be a big deal for me. Still, this whole announcement is a step in the right direction for online music.

Love Will Tear Us Apart

Despite having Love Will Tear Us Apart on pretty heavy rotation on my iPod/iTunes/CD player — as well as owning over a dozen versions and covers of it — I still find myself to be quite fond of it. So having the music video cued up and on call at YouTube won’t hurt, will it?

It’s The Blessed Routine

I’m a little late to The Good, The Bad and The Queen’s party — but I feel like I need to go on record and say that they’re kind of fucking amazing.

Oh Danger Mouse and Damon Albarn, can you do any wrong?

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

The Smiths on a Ukulele? It sort of makes sense to me. Then again, I’m kind of weird…

Either way, I think this is an outstanding cover of one of my very favorite Smiths songs.

Out Of Control

Oh. Holy. Shit. Go watch this right fucking now.

Would it help if I said please? Okay, fine…

Go watch this right fucking now, please.

Can’t Get You Out Of My Head

This isn’t a music blog or anything, but for whatever reason I can’t seem to stop playing these songs over the past week. So I thought I’d share them with the lot of you. Sharing, after all, is caring…

  • Interpol - Evil — This is probably one of my favorite Interpol songs out of their entire catalog. Enough people have said that they have a very Joy Division sound at times — to the point where it sounds a bit cliche — and I think this song does a good job drawing a line between the two groups.
  • Colin Meloy - Jack The Ripper — I really enjoy what Colin from The Decemberists has done with this Morrissey track. In fact, I really enjoy the whole Colin Meloy Sings Morrisey EP, but this one is quickly replacing Everyday Is Like Sunday as my favorite.
  • New Order - Age Of Consent — Speaking of songs quickly replacing one another as favorites, I’ve been swayed towards liking this song a bit more than Temptation. I’m not sure if it’s just because of current circumstances or whatever, but I feel like I really identify with it.

The senduit links expire in a week. If you want them, grab them quickly.

Best. SNL Digital Short. Ever.

It feels weird to post a SNL Digital Short that’s actually been uploaded to YouTube by NBC, but here it is in all its uncensored glory. Oh yeah, a big ol’ NSFW on this one BTW…
