Hooray For Voting!
Exercising your rights is an awesome thing — even if you do it at the last possible minute. Hopefully those of y’all in the U.S. took the opportunity to vote today too…

Hot Fuzz
Hells yeah! The teaser trailers for “Hot Fuzz” are online!
As a Simon Pegg/Nick Frost/Edgar Wright fan I honestly cannot wait for this film to come out. Does anyone have any idea when it’ll be released in The States?
P.S. Keep an eye peeled for the “Shaun of the Dead” hat tip towards the end — those of you in the know (My we’re condescending, aren’t we?) ought to get a kick out of it… ;)

Tangerine
So I’m letting the much buzzed Tangerine scan thru my Powerbook’s iTunes library (Don’t judge the Beyonce or Timberlake, okay?) so I can see how well it works at automagically building playlists based on BPM and beat intensity. From what I’ve read about it so far, it sounds promising — but we’ll see how well it works once I’ve had the chance to road test it by loading up the Shuffle for my evening walks.

Lady Sov Tops TRL
Yesterday, the (almost) unthinkable happened, as Lady Sovereign’s video for “Love Me or Hate Me” vaulted to number one on MTV’s “Total Request Live” countdown. Yes, more people voted for Lady Sovereign being chased by a ghost hamster than Justin Timberlake and T.I. in “My Love”.
News like this is almost enough to get me watching MTV again. Almost.

Registration
Yesterday’s election flavored edition of ZeFrank’s The Show is out-fucking-standing. Go watch it now. Don’t worry, I’ll be here when you get back.
Seriously tho… If you watch only one piece of internet video this week, then you’ve probably never heard of YouTube. But that’s beside the point, isn’t it?
P.S. You still have time to inform yourself before the November 8th election comes around. It might be a good idea to do that. Just saying, that’s all…

New York City Stories :: CBGB
This is a great skit from last week’s SNL featuring Fred Armisen and Amy Poehler as Lou Reed and Patti Smith riffing on the demise of CBGB. Since it’s on YouTube, I’m sure NBC will smack it down pretty quickly — so watch it while you can…

Just Browsing
So I’ve been using the Firefox 2.0 betas (as well as the release candidates) for the past couple months as my primary browser at work and I have to say that I’ve really come to like it quite a bit. So much so that I’m actually considering getting rid of my beloved pimped out version of Safari.
Since I spend a lot of time in a browser, switching over can be a pretty monumental task — but at this point the built in spell-check and crash recovery as well as all the freaking extensions out there are really starting to make the hassle worth it.
Then again, I loved Flock too — but a built-in weblog editor and Flickr client, while quite novel, still weren’t enough to get me to switch. *shrug* Get back to me in a couple months and we’ll see where I stand, I guess…

Plus One
It’s time to mark the start of another year on Sarah‘s calendar. She’s now officially the age where she can get a break on her insurance and rent a car without any penalties. And while that’s kind of boring compared to the American porn/tobacco/voting age (18) and the booze/nightclub age (21), I still think its a respectable place to be.
Happy quarter century, my lovely little doe. I love you so very much that my heart feels as if it might explode every time we touch or I’m near you. May your next quarter century be as interesting and full of potential as one you just completed.

Marie Antoinette
I don’t care if the French booed it at Cannes — I’m really looking forward to Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette. The 75% Rotten Tomatoes seems to be pretty positive, although I’m sure that’ll fluctuate a bit as more critics weigh in on it. I’ve never really cared much about what critics have had to say tho. *shrug*

Cracked Eggs
While Songbird is straight up crashtastic on both my Dual G5 at work and my Powerbook at home, it really shows a lot of promise as far as media players go. Do yourself a favor and check out the screencast if you have a few minutes.
I’m looking forward to seeing this mature and not be so crashy. Hopefully that day will come sooner rather than later…

Hard Candy
I’ve been wanting to see this one for a while now, but I told Sarah that I’d wait so we could see it together. While the scores on Metacritic seem to be a bit mixed, it still looked like the sort of movie I’d actually enjoy.
And I really don’t care what most reviews say anyhow. Despite being a bit of a critic myself, I know that most people’s tastes are subjective. Anyhow, I finally gave in and managed to score a copy from a couple of peers — if you know what I mean — that the girl and I managed to watch over the weekend.
And you know what? I’m pretty damn happy that I finally got around to seeing it. It really was a pretty good but slightly flawed psychological thriller.
P.S. For those of you who don’t want to deal with the pixelated YouTube video up above, there are higher quality versions of the trailer on Apple’s site.

Archival Gomi: 10 Questions With Eric Kleptone
You know, I realized the other day that I’d managed to lose a few pretty decent posts when I decided to stop doing Gomi No Sensei as my day to day blog. Furthermore completely shutting off the archives from the outside world probably wasn’t the best move — even if it did get rid of a few moments and posts that I wasn’t exactly proud of.
So in the interest of preservation, I’ve decided to go ahead and dust off a few of those 1334 old posts and run them here. This first one is an interview with Eric Kleptone — who as part of The Kleptones has released two albums and three limited release EPs since — from almost 2 years ago to the day. Enjoy!

Move over “Grey Album”, The Kleptones “A Night At The Hip-Hopera” seems to be gathering plenty of buzz with the cool kids in intarwebland. I was lucky enough to exchange some mail with Eric Kleptone who agreed to answer a handful of my amateurish questions.
The answers he returned to me were as extensive and well thought out as the mix he contributed to. With his permission, I’ve gone ahead and reproduced our impromptu Q and A below. I hope you enjoy it.
Okay, seriously. Why Queen?
Erm…why not? It was a combination of things — we chanced on some really good source material to start with, and we’re already huge fans anyway — I’ve been listening to Queen since I was knee-high. They made so much excellent and varied music during their existance that we knew we could do something that had a good range to it — it wouldn’t get boring after a couple of tracks.
Also it was light years away from The Lips…and we wanted something that had stuff on it that people could get down with, and that we could take out and DJ.
