Damn. It’s been kind of a big week for Hipster Ipsum. Like linked on Kottke, Boing Boing, swissmiss & the Urban Outfitters blog big.
While I never intended for it to be anything more than something a few friends would laugh at, all of this attention is compelling me to add a couple new features. Hopefully I’ll find a little time in the next week to do both a “work safe” filter and a “submit a word” form, but I’m not going to go and make any grand promises.
At the end of the day, I’m just happy that people are finding something that I made funny (and/or useful) and I don’t want to squander that. So if anyone has suggestions for features, let me know!
Update: I’ve gone ahead and made the whole site work safe by cutting the instances of “fuck” and “shit” out of the database. Now you can use the output for whatever work related designs you’d like.
Update: I added chartbeat to the site just to keep an eye on things and, well, holy crap.
Update: I put a “submit a word” form up yesterday, but we ran into the submission limit for the free account on Wufoo. I’ve since replaced it with a form I slapped together in Google Docs. I really hope I can get some time to go thru the suggestions soon and hand pick/add some of the better ones to the site. Thanks again for all the love, everyone!

Love the site! Although you only intended as a joke, I think there is a real interest in the design community to have something more creative than the tired Lorem Ipsum. You’re on to something here. Quick suggestion – in the same spirit of removing profanity for a work-safe usage, you might consider removing “Homo” from the Hipster, Neat text as well. If you want to use in the latin version that would make sense, seeing as it’s a Latin word! But in the non-latin form it takes on a derogatory meaning that probably isn’t worth it. Hoping to save you a few PR headaches before it hits CNN. Free advice, worth what you paid for it. Keep up the great work and good luck!
Hipster Ipsum is quite brilliant. Thank you for having the idea, having the energy to build it, and having the spirit to make it even better. I really enjoy how this tool makes us think about language.

Foook yeah lets see those word requests/submissions… The fact that banksy is there is hillarious. Even better banksy is coming up on swype as magnify……. No other options. Its the first time I’ve ever stumped swype , and I’ve tried… Nice work. Get rid of homo and replace with lesbian. :) and ru paul.
Ps, not to imply that you were responsible for stumping swype, I was intending to word it to mean nice work on selling out !!! If I had a brain, I really would be a danger to myself and others for sure.
